Have you experienced nurse-to-nurse bullying, also called lateral hostility, in the past 90 days?

yes
Absolutely yes. I think it's not as bad in emergency nursing as in other areas, and for the most part I've found ED nurses to be less clique-ish and more welcoming of newcomers, but I have had the occasional colleague who was just a tad aggressive and intolerant of new or less experienced nurses. I currently have a colleague who seems to delight in verbally putting down anyone who she deems as being less knowledgeable and experienced than she is. Sometimes the bullying is veiled behind an offer to help, but is presented in such a way as to be quite insulting and demeaning.
I believe that there should
I believe that there should be a zero tolerance policy for those "bullying" behaviors. Research indicates that the victims who are consistently being met with hostility do not perform to the best of their ability. I have also been a victim of this behavior, and occassionally I still am, and it can inhibit the care we provide.

Being the new nurse/new
Being the new nurse/new grad..I currently feel like the outcast..in a unknown world of people who think they can say or do anything they want to me..I been call stupid, not going to make it, Ohh the big one that broke me to tears that I was veberal with a pt that I WASN"T..I know that they just want to run me off or just scare me..For me as a person I would never take it outside of work. But I feel like I have to at work or else.In the Hosptial that I work you diff. know the cliques and they aren't welcoming at all. This is the field I dream about being in and I'm not a spring chicken by anymeans, but I never felt so out of place in all my life. You are suppose to have a mentor and but that person I feel is the las person you can go talk too. I feel the boss is just more of the same unwelcoming and judging..I often wonder why..But I get up and go my unwelcoming job and do it all over again.
Nurse to Nurse Bulling
I did'nt get a chance to see such bullying matter as in New York, nurses are trained enough to handle every situation, besides EMR companies make sure there is less involvement of such nurses which may soil the services.
